PHEV technology

Featuring an 100kW electric motor with 400Nm of torque, the Touare R can glide silently in full electric mode for up to an impressive 51 kilometres3, all while leaving zero tailpipe emissions. Plus, with convenient charging options, including a standard 2.3kW household socket for an approximate 8-hour full charge or an upgraded wallbox for a swift 2.5-hour charge at 7.2kW, the Touareg R ensures you're always powered up and ready to go.
"E-Mode" and "Hybrid"
The Touareg R eHybrid has two distinct driving modes, E-MODE and Hybrid mode. These driving modes work in conjunction with the six driving profile selection modes and can be selected from the 4MOTION Active Control menu in the updated Innovision Cockpit.
When the battery is sufficiently charged, the Touareg R always starts in all-electric E-MODE. If a high power demand is detected, the V6 TSI motor automatically kicks in. Hybrid mode seamlessly switches between both the combustion engine and electric motor depending on the driving situation for optimal use of the high voltage battery.
